Homemade Body Scrub & Mask

Like facial scrubs and masks, body treatments are a must to make your skin healthy and beautiful. Homemade body scrubs and masks are good alternatives to expensive ones. Use scrub and mask once a week for the best result.

Homemade Body Scrub

Body scrubs help get rid of dead skin cells that make the skin dull and lead to body acne. They also leave your skin feeling soft and better prepared to absorb moisture.

- Salt scrub: Mix 20 drops of essential oil (lavender or rosemary), 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 1/2 cup of sea salt. Rub the scrub over your body. Then rinse off with warm water.

- Sugar scrub: Mix 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of almond oil, 10 drops of vitamin E, and 10 drops of essential oil. Scrub it on the skin in circular motions. Then rinse off with warm water.

- Oatmeal scrub: Mix 2 tablespoons of ground almond, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, 2 teaspoons of honey, and 1/2 cup of plain yogurt. Gently rub over your body. Then leave on for 5 minutes and rinse off thoroughly.

- Coffee scrub: Coffee helps redistribute fat cells and decrease the formation of cellulite. Mix 2 cups of coffee grounds, 1/2 cup of sea salt, and 1 tablespoon of oil (olive, almond, or vegetable oil).  Apply the scrub to your damp skin. Rub it in circular motions with your fingers to distribute fat cells underneath the skin. Then shower using hot and cold water in alternation.

A contrast shower is a good home remedy for cellulite prevention and reduction. Focus on the areas that are affected by cellulite. Use water as cold as you can stand and then switch to hot water. The contrast shower encourages the blood and lymph vessels to pump more vigorously.

Homemade Body Mask

- Yogurt & honey mask: Mix 1 cup of plain yogurt with 3 tablespoons of honey. Gently apply the mask onto your body. Leave on for about 15 minutes. Then shower as usual. For a better result, apply the mask after scrubbing your skin. Lactic acid in yogurt loosens dead skin cells and fades dark spots. Honey adds moisture to the skin and makes it glowing.

- Chocolate Mask: Dark chocolate is an excellent antioxidant that can fight free radicals and slow down aging process. It is high in vitamin A, B, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. Another important benefit of chocolate is that it makes your mood better. Melt 250 grams of dark chocolate. Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Let the mixture cool in room temperature. Then spread it on your body and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
