Homemade Masks for Acne

Acne is a common skin problem that affects most people both in teens and adults. Acne usually leaves acne scars that embarrass acne sufferers. The effective way to prevent acne scars is to prevent the formation of acne. Several treatments can work together to cure acne. One of the effective acne treatments is homemade acne mask. You can easily find the natural ingredients in your kitchen.

The homemade acne masks not only cure acne but also clean your skin pores. Try one or several of these masks to see how your skin responds to the treatment. If one homemade acne mask does not help you, try another one. When you find the right mask for you, use it once or twice a week for a few weeks. You will see the improvement.

Green Tea Mask

Benefits: the substance call EGCG in green tea is anti-bacteria and helps control acne.

Mix one teaspoon of green tea powder and a few drops of water. Spread the mask evenly on your clean face. The mask will gradually tighten up. Leave it for 10 minutes. Then wash your face with cold water.

Strawberry Mask

Benefits: Strawberry detoxifies your skin. Vitamin C in strawberry also fades dark spots and lightens your skin.

Mix a teaspoon of sour cream and fresh strawberry juice. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes. Then wash off with warm water. You can also cut the strawberry into half and gently rub it all over your face. Leave the mask for 15 minutes and then wash off.

Baking Soda Mask

Benefits: baking soda increases skin cell turnover rate, making your acne and redness less noticeable.

Mix baking soda and water. Then gently apply on your clean face for 15 minutes. Wash your face. You can use this mask on the whole face twice a week or apply the mixture directly on acne spots several times a week. 

Salt Mask

Benefits: The mask cleans your skin and dries acne spots.

Dissolve salt in water. Then apply the mask to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. You can also wash your face with this mixture once a day (or every other day if your face becomes too dry).

Yogurt Mask

Benefits: Lactic acid in yogurt exfoliates your skin, reducing dead skin cells which are one of the common causes of acne. The mask can also fade post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, known as dark acne scars.

Mix one teaspoon of plain yogurt (don’t use low or non-fat yogurt) and one teaspoon of honey. Apply the mask on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off.

Egg White Mask

Benefits: You skin becomes tightened and red spots are faded.

Separate the yolk from the egg white. Then mix the white part and some lemon juice. Whip the mixture until you have a dense paste. Gently apply the mask on your clean face. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.
